Limestone-gypsum FGD remains one of the widely used wet desulfurization technologies for large-scale industrial applications.

A limestone-gypsum FGD system uses limestone slurry to absorb SO₂ from flue gas. Through a series of absorption, oxidation and separation processes, sulfur dioxide is converted into calcium sulfate-based products, commonly referred to as gypsum. The technology can be applied to power plants, steel mills, cement plants, chemical facilities and other high-emission industries.

One of the key advantages of a properly designed wet limestone FGD system is its ability to handle large gas volumes and relatively high SO₂ concentrations.
